A Million Images Wins Emmy!

On Saturday, May 22, 2004, Chris Million was awarded a Northern California Emmy award for his work as director of photography on Return to the Valley, at the 2003-2004 Northern California Emmy Award ceremony in San Francisco.

The PBS documentary, produced by KTEH in San Jose, was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Community Program. It tells the story of the internment and ultimate return of Japanese-American farm workers to the Santa Clara Valley after World War II. Return to the Valley was shot over the winter of 2002-2003 on locations throughout the Santa Clara and Salinas Valleys.

Million had been nominated four times previously for Emmys as segment producer and director on the long-running PBS teen series, Real Science, and had shot several Emmy-winning segments for the show.

Million and Valley producer Christina Lim are currently collaborating on a new PBS documentary about the history of Asian-Americans in law enforcement.

AMI produces WAVE Awards video

A Million Images has recently produced a 20-minute video for the 2004 WAVE Awards Luncheon hosted by San Francisco nonprofit organization GirlSource. GirlSource provides meaningful work and leadership opportunities to low-income young women ages 14 to 18.

WAVE — Women of Achievement, Vision, and Excellence — honors five women over 70 for their lifetime achievements. This year’s honorees include activist Dolores Huerta, broadcaster Belva Davis, psychotherapist Lillian Rubin, and activists Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin.

Holly and Chris Million enjoyed working with four graduates of GirlSource’s programs who worked as production assistants on the video. We’re proud to have worked with older women, younger women, and a great nonprofit organization
